Fiat-Hitachi was a company of the Fiat group founded in 1987 from the union of Fiat Earthmoving Machinery with the activities of the Japanese company Hitachi in the same sector. It was involved in the construction of earthmoving machines, such as hydraulic excavators, mechanical shovels, dozers, levelers, loaders, etc. Following the breakdown of the commercial relationship between Fiat and Hitachi, the latter continued to market its products under the Hitachi brand in Europe, while Fiat instead opened a new agreement with Kobelco which then led to CNH Global.[1]
In 1998, FiatGeotech completed the acquisition of the well-known German excavator manufacturer O&K, during the acquisition of the American group Ford-New Holland. Subsequently, in 1999, it also acquired the American group Case IH.[2]
