High-quality food used to feed cows in FS22 – Total Mixed Ration (TMR). Here we will learn how to prepare and mix TMR. Also you will find out what ingredients and equipment you need for this.
Requirements For TMR Production
The ingredients for Total Mixed Ration are hay, silage, straw and mineral feed. You can get everything at the dealership – sold in pallets or bales.
Note: You don’t have to mix TMR by yourself if you got the cow barn with feeding robot. The feeding robot will mix the ingredients automatically. Learn more about barns and cow feed in our tutorial about cows. Also, see “TMR Production Via Feeding Robot” down below!
What Equipment Do You Need?
You need a tractor with a front loader attachment to control the mixer wagon and transport the resources.
You need a forage mixer wagon to mix all the ingredients.
You need a bale spike for transporting the components of the TMR.
How To Produce TMR
Step 1: Collecting ingredients
The easiest and quickest way to get all the ingredients in the beginning: buy them! You find everything you require at the dealership.
Of course, if your farming operation is equipped with the machinery, you can produce everything except mineral feed yourself. You need to mow and dry grass to produce hay, collect the straw from certain crops and produce silage by fermenting grass or chaff by baling or in a bunker silo.
Step 2: Feed the mixer wagon!
Now you have to load the bales/pallets into the mixer wagon. Grab them with a front loader and a bale spike and carefully “tip” them into the machine. Don’t throw them in completely, but measure out the amount by just letting them hover over the opening and lowering them slightly.
In proximity of a mixer wagon, you see an info box on the top-left side. If displays how much of each ingredient is required and currently in the tank, indicated in percentage.
Step 3: Mix it up!
To finally get TMR, just hook the forage mixer wagon to one of your tractors and turn it on. After that, you can use the TMR and unload it at the designated area of your cow barn.
TMR Production Via Feeding Robot
As stated above, if you own a barn with a feeding robot, you don’t need a mixer wagon. Just unload hay, straw, silage and mineral feed at the designated areas of the barn:
